Off to Colorado!!

After lots of discussion and secret planning with Grandma and Grandpa, Shell and I decided to surprise Uncle Joe and Aunt Guylynn with a visit to Colorado!! Gma and Gpa had already planned to take a trip out there, so we thought it would be wonderful if we surprised them and just showed up on their doorstep, which is exactly what we did! We left this morning very early for the 15+ hour drive, and were on cloud nine! We were so excited to be going, and the long drive was just part of the fun! We had our music CDs, books on tape, and we were off!! We did feel bad for leaving the kids with the boys, but were also looking forward to some much needed time to ourselves. It was so hard hard to keep this a secret, cause we wanted to call them and let them know, but didn't want to spoil it. The thought of us just showing up at their house was too exciting, so after a long drive, a James Patterson book on tape, and a few bathroom and lunch stops, we finally made it to Colorado. We had planned to call Gma and Gpa once we reached a certain destination, so they could keep us posted on where they were at when we got there, and basically to make sure they would be home. So imagine, calling Gma's cell phone and trying to have a conversation with her right there in front of them. At one point, she had to go outside to keep talking, which was hilarious. However, the secret had not been revealed! Once we were in Colorado, we got so excited to see the mountains, and it was so beautiful! We were getting so close, and couldn't drive fast enough to get there....good thing the speed limits are higher in Colorado!
Once we pulled up in the driveway, we saw Gpa waiting in the garage for us! He had a big smile on his face and I am not sure who was more excited, us or Gma and Gpa. We had pulled it off! We got out of the and even before carrying anything inside, we just knocked on the door and walked in and said, "Hello? Is this where the party is??" The looks on their faces were priceless!!! They were shocked to see us, and I believe Uncle Joe said, "Holy Shit!" So, it was so much fun to see them and know they didn't have a clue! We called Danielle at work, and the funny thing was, we called from Aunt Guylynn's phone, so she was so confused to hear our voices! It took her a minute to realize we were at their house, and she immediately got off the phone to see how she could get out of work!! After Danielle and Gabby arrived, we all ordered pizza and just hung out all night. We played a little Wii tennis, which was fun...all the while not really feeling like we were actually in Colorado! What a great night!!
