Today was another great day, and we actually had a few things on the agenda that we were going to attempt, even though the weather indicated it was supposed to rain. Even so, we had a fun filled day! We started off relaxing at home and Gpa and Uncle Joe working on the deck some more. While they were doing that, and everyone else was finishing getting ready, we went back to the lake down the road just to get some more fresh air. We managed to take a few more pictures of us, trying to get our pose on!
After everyone was ready to go, we were off to do some sight seeing in the mountains. We took off and just started driving through the mountains, which were absolutely amazing! The weather was great and we stopped off at a few places along the way just to take it all in. All along the way, we saw beautiful scenery and wildlife around every corner. We saw deer every time we turned around, just on the side of the road. It was unbelievable. We managed to stop several places just to take pictures and look around, which was so much fun!
After quite a drive, we ended up at Lake Isabel four our picnic lunch! Before eating, we did some wandering around the woods, and along the creek and found the perfect spot to take some photos! The girls did some exploring and felt really good about ourselves, cause we managed to make it all the way down the stream, across it, and back around to the picnic site. We were feeling a little less grly that day, and like we actually belonged out in the wilderness! It was a lot of fun, but then we headed back to eat lunch! It was so neat to be eating out in the middle of the woods, with a stream flowing in the background...I could definitely get used to this!!
After lunch, we got back in the vehicles and continued to drive up through the mountains. I cannot imagine being able to live here and do this every day! It was amazing, and you could easily just get lost in the mountains and see new things each and every time! One thing that you may however not have to see all the time is Bishop's Castle. Well, the castle itself is awesome, but the owner and individual guy who built it is a little crazy. Seriously, he has beuilt this entire castle by himself, and using donations from those that visit it all year long. He does a little bit at a time, and over the years has really done an amazing job. He lives here too in a little shack next to the castle, and is crazy cause he is totally against the government and will start talking to the tourists about how they are out to get everyone and you can't help but listen to him....even though he isn't making any sense. It's like a train wreck, you can't help but watch him! I didn't realize until after walking up the steep steps and through the castle how afraid of heights I was, but it was insane. Uncle Joe and Gabby made it all the way to the top of the ball, but there was no way I could do it. Maybe it also had a little to do with the fact that I didn't trust this guy at all? Either way, I made it pretty far, but then had to turn around.
After spending some time at Bishop's Castle, we started the drive back home. Again, we stopped along the way to take some pictures...and managed to find several rocks that were perfect spots for our photos. It got to be a big joke that we had our pictures taken on so many rocks along the way, but they just made for the best backdrops! On the way home, we also had to stop for ice cream...of course! Nothing ends the day better than some ice cream!
The pictures of or third day are listed below.
